Helping you find your new direction
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you offer free consultation prior to scheduling?
A: Yes! We are available for 15-minute telephone consultation calls to allow us to discuss your treatment needs and
desires and allow you to ask any questions that may help you determine whether we are a good fit for you.

Q: How long will appointments last?
A: The initial appointment is typically 60-90 minutes, as we will be discussing your history and presenting concerns
in depth. Following the initial appointment, therapy will typically last 45-50 minutes. Longer sessions may be
scheduled in advance, if necessary. Initial couple therapy appointments last 90 minutes, with regular couple
therapy appointments lasting 60-75 minutes.

Q: How often will I attend therapy?
A: Most individuals elect to receive therapy weekly. Frequency of therapy can be either more or less often if desired.

Q: What can I expect from these appointments?
A: In the first few sessions, the focus will be on determining needs and goals. Getting to know each other, developing
a treatment plan, and working to understand the concerns that bring you into treatment will be the focus. Following
this, working on the difficulties you are facing will increasingly be the focus. This may entail developing insight,
learning skills, and/or implementing changes in your life.

Q: So how long does all of this take?
A: This depends on the concerns brought to therapy, their complexity, and the needs of each client. Typically, after 6
months the client and therapist will reevaluate to determine whether the goals have been achieved and whether
ongoing therapy for maintenance is necessary.
Q: What kind of clients do you typically work with?
A: We are honored to serve a diversity of clients. We enjoy working with Veterans and Active Duty service members,
members of the LGBTQ++ community, adolescents, older adults, and individuals with complex trauma, grief and
loss issues, anxiety and mood disorders, PTSD, relationship issues, and phase of life or adjustment concerns,
including adjustment to chronic illness and/or chronic pain. We do not presently work with individuals under the
age of 12.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: The cash pay rate for a new client appointment is $250. Rates for regular psychotherapy sessions are $175 per
45-50 minute session. Extended sessions (50-60 minutes) are charged at a rate of $200 per session. Initial couple
therapy appointments are $250. Subsequent couple therapy appointments are billed at $200 per session. We
accept most major insurance plans.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We request 24 hours' notice prior to cancellation. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance may
incur a cancellation fee of $25. No-shows are billed at a rate of $50 per missed appointment. Multiple no-shows or
last-minute cancellations may result in termination of services.
Q: Do you prescribe medication?
A: We do not prescribe medications. We are able to provide you with medical records and/or consult with your
primary care physician, psychiatrist, or psychiatric nurse practitioner if you would like to initiate medication. We
may also provide referrals to qualified providers in the local area.
Q: Do you provide child custody, competency to stand trial, or parental capacity evaluations? Will you testify as an
expert witness?
A: Our practice is not currently involved in forensic matters. We do not testify at legal hearings.
Q: Do you offer a sliding fee scale?
A: We offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments. Please contact us for more details.
Q: What are your hours? Can I have my appointments in the evening or on the weekend?
A: We offer services from 9am-7pm. Weekends may be available with advance notice.
Q: How will my privacy be protected?
A: We will use HIPAA-approved technology to facilitate video appointments and protect your records. We maintain
the strictest confidentiality, and will only release your records to individuals you endorse or under very limited
conditions to protect your immediate safety or as court-ordered by a judge. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging
